Yesterday the Joomla! Core team released J! 1.5.7. This is a security release, and is a strongly recommended update.

See below for manual upgrade instructions if you are not using Pro.

If you are using the Pro version of the IS Installer, please:

1. Backup your site
2. Take your front end off line [Site | Global Configuration | Site Offline = yes, Save ]
3. Go to Components | Add Software
4. Click "Upgrade to J!1.5.7" (you may need to click Refresh Software List if you don't see that button)
5. Bring your front-end back online.
6. Test to make sure everything is working

Please Note: This is only our 2nd Joomla! update. While the system has been tested in many configurations, yours may be different and the upgrade may fail for various reasons.

Specifically, all Joomla! Updates will update most core files, and as such, needs permission to write to those files.

If you do find a failure, restore your site with the backup and contact support so we can help.

If you are NOT running Pro, you can be. Just click on the "Subscribe Now" button in your administrator, and all your sites start running Pro, instantly - or buy pro online now.
