Before you start, please be aware: All Intellispire Extensions require PHP5.2x, and actually have code to detect which version of PHP is running on the server. If the code detects older versions of PHP, it will throw an error and die. If these instructions don't work, please verify which version of PHP you are running before contacting support.
Install, Configure and Test iContact Signup Form for Joomla!
There are three modes of operation: Standard, Script and Advanced; the information for which you retrieve from inside your iContact account. As iContact stores forms server side, you will need to extract info from your iContact account into the module setup form in order to link iContact to Joomla.
Setup for Standard mode:
Step one: Purchase the module (iContact Signup Form)
Purchase the plug-in
You will receive a welcome email from Intellispire upon your purchase.
Select the link provided in the email you receive to download and save the file to your hard drive.
Login to the backend of your joomla site. ( eg. YourDomain.com/administrator )
Once logged in to the Administrator, go to Extensions > Install/Uninstall.
Choose Package File and browse for the file that you just saved to your hard drive, then select Upload.
Go to Extensions > Plugin Manager and scroll to find the "iContact Signup Form". (Probably the last item on your list.)
Click on iContact Signup Form, and on the right side of the page, you will need to provide the data for module parameters - which you will acquire from inside iContact. So leave this page or browser tab open, and proceed to Step two.
Step two: Set up an iContact form
Open a new window or new tab on your browser, then go to www.iContact.com
Login to your account.
From a top tab, select Contacts.
From the list of sub-menus, select Sign-up Forms.
Scroll down and press the button: Create HTML Form.
Here, you can choose a style, or you can skip it by clicking NEXT.
Name your new form.
Choose a list to add your new contact to (If you have not already created a list, you will need to go back and create one)
Select the fields you want in your form (at least first name; email is already selected)
Select any custom fields you want to use for tracking.
Decide whether you want to require confirmation.
Choose a Sending Option: Choose which campaign you would like this email to pull its sending options from.
SAVE
On the page displayed after you save, scroll down to the Manual Sign-up Form section. The code you see inside that box is your HTML form. Place your cursor in the box, select all and copy (ctrl+c) the html codes, then paste it to box provided in this ID extractor link.
OR, find it manually by copy and pasting the html codes in a notepad, then look for ID listed similar to the following:
Apply and review on your website. Note: We use apply because it saves your work, and leaves the page open. Save closes the page and returns to the module menu.
You may not like the looks of that form. It is being pulled directly from iContact and is not formated to fit your website. Most people don't use this mode. Delete the text from the script field if you decide against this mode. Leave the script field blank and move to the instructions for Standard Mode.
Setup for Advanced mode:
For Advanced mode, click on Advanced Parameters dropdown on the right side.
Click the radio button "Yes, Run in Iframe".
Next customize the text. Leave all other settings as they were for standard mode, except delete the text in the redirect field.
Apply
Now go to your website and do a test signup.
After pressing subscribe button,
you should see the form disappear and
to be replaced by your Thank You text on the same page.
Go back to your module (from your JoomlaDomain.com/administrator)
Double check the left side of the page to make sure your form is enabled and that you have positioned to your liking.
If yes, click Save.
Testing
Now you will want to test all the way through to insure your registration system works as you expect it to.
Go to the page on your website where you placed the form and signup.
Make sure you are re-directed to the page you expected.
Check your email to see that you received the welcome letter.
Check your account in iContact to make sure the name is added to your list.
Send an email from iContact to the address to make sure that messages are going out and being received as expected.
NOTE: Sometimes, arrival of messages is almost instant. Sometimes it can take up to an hour. Be patient.
