The Buzz

I was very impressed with the Joomla Installer and have been using it.

I also like the angle that your team is coming from supplying products that cross Joomla and Internet Marketing.

I've added you to my rss feeds, so I'll be keeping you on my radar.

Thanks, Mark R.

iContact Plugin

Install, Configure and Test
iContact Plugin for Joomla!

Step by Step Instructions

Before you start: All Intellispire Extensions require PHP5.x, and actually have code to detect which version of PHP is running on the server. If the code detects older versions of PHP, it will throw an error and die. If these instructions don't work, please verify which version of PHP you are running before contacting support.

    Installation

  1. Purchase the plug-in
  2. You will receive a welcome email from Intellispire upon your purchase.
  3. Select the link provided in the email you receive to download and save the file to your hard drive.
  4. Login to the backend of your joomla site. ( eg. YourDomain.com/administrator )
  5. Go to Extensions > Install/Uninstall.
  6. Choose Package File and browse for the file that you just saved to your hard drive, then select Upload.

    Setup
    Now that you have installed the plugin, you will need to configure and follow these instructions:

  7. Go to Extensions > Plugin Manager and scroll to the iContact Notification Plugin. (Probably the last item on your list.)
  8. Click on iContact Notification.
  9. On the left side see "Enabled" and select yes radio button.
  10. On the right side of that page, you will need to provide the data for Plugin Parameters - which you will acquire from inside iContact.
    • iContact Client ID
    • iContact Form ID
    • iContact List ID
    • iContact special ID (this is a 4 digit code)
    • And last you will need to decide whether or not to force double optin when people sign up.

    iContact stores forms server side. Therefore you have to go into your iContact account and create a form then extract the parameter details into the plugin setup form in order to get it into Joomla. (Step 12)

  11. So, leave this page open.
  12. Open a new new window or new tab on your browser, then go to www.iContact.com
  13. Login to your account and follow these instructions:

    Step by step instructions to extract parameters from the form's HTML code.

    1. From a top tab, select Contacts
    2. From the list of sub-menus, select Sign-up Forms
    3. Scroll down and press the button: Create HTML Form
    4. Here, you can choose a style, or you can skip it by clicking NEXT
    5. Name your new form
    6. Choose a list to add your new contact to
    7. Select the fields you want in your form (at least first name; email is already selected)
    8. Select any custom fields you want for tracking
    9. Decide whether you want to require confirmation
    10. Choose a Sending Option: Choose which campaign you would like this email to pull its sending options from.
    11. SAVE
    12. On the page displayed after you save, scroll down to the Manual Sign-up Form section. The code you see inside that box is your HTML form.
    13. Place your cursor in the box, select all and copy (ctrl+c) the html codes, then paste it to box provided in this ID extractor link.
    14. OR, find it manually by copy and pasting the html codes in a notepad, then look for ID listed similar to the following:

                 <input type=hidden name="listid" value="123456">
                 <input type=hidden name="specialid:146184" value="XLPB">
                 <input type=hidden name=clientid value="123654">
                 <input type=hidden name=formid value="12345">
                 <input type=hidden name=reallistid value="1">
                 <input type=hidden name=doubleopt value="1">

    The information in quotes AFTER value = is the parameters needed to complete the plugin setup form.
    NOTE: The information provided here is for example ONLY. The values displayed in your form will be specific to your iContact account.

    Complete the Setup

  14. Now go back to the Plugin page in your Joomla admin (step 11) and copy and paste the values into the appropriate parameter field.
  15. Click on Apply, and double check if the system (iContact Notification) is enabled. If yes, click Save.

    Testing
    Test your set-up to insure your registration system works as you expect it to.

  16. Go to your website frontpage, see if you have the Login module provided as default from your Joomla package, if not enable this module form the backend.
  17. Create an account, and enter details required.
  18. Check your email for the welcome letter you previously set up in iContact. An activation link may be provided depending on your plugin settings. Once you receive the welcome email, your iContact plugin is setup and ready to recieve your signups and start building your list. Note: Sometimes, arrival of this message is almost instant. Sometimes it can take up to an hour. Be patient.
